A motor vehicle collision that occurred last night on the outskirts of Buffalo left two men seriously injured. Reports indicate law enforcement believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the Buffalo Car Accident.

A story form WGRZ 2 News stated the crash happened at around 11 p.m. along Route 5 near the suburb of Hamburg. Local police stated they had set up a roadblock along the highway after several accidents occurred due to icy conditions. As the motorist responsible for the collision approached the blocked highway he went around a barrier where he then struck one of the vehicles involved in a previous crash.

The impact of the second collision caused the wrecked vehicle to lurch forward, where it struck two men standing in front of it. The 32- and 61-year-old victims were both taken to a local trauma center where they were listed in critical condition.

Officers determined the man responsible for the crash was an off-duty deputy with the Erie County Sheriff’s Department who was driving drunk. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

The Personal Injury Lawyers with William Mattar Law Offices are aware of how dangerous drunk driving can be. That’s why the firm asks that motorists never get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming alcohol. Instead, utilize a designated driver to get home safely.
