What do I need to rent a car?
The following documents can help determine your rental car cost and eligibility after an accident:
- Proof of car insurance coverage or other means of payment
In some cases, the other driver’s insurance company may accept liability and pay for some or all of your rental car. If liability is being disputed, your daily rental costs may be covered by your own policy. If no rental car insurance coverage is available, the rental car can be paid for by credit card. Another option may be using a collision shop that covers rentals when they perform the repairs.
- Valid drivers license
The rental car company will need to see your current driver’s license when you pick up your car. Not only does your license prove you can legally operate your vehicle, but it serves as proof of age, which can determine your ability to rent a car and the rate you owe.
Our lawyers know the injury claims process can be confusing, and we’re here to answer your questions and provide the assistance you need to get a rental car.
