Attorney Lucas Cranwell was born and raised in Hampshire, England. Lucas began riding motorcycles and racing go-karts at a very young age. The day before his family moved to America, he crashed his go-kart through his neighbor’s freshly painted fence. His family relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1998, and later acquired U.S. Citizenship in Buffalo. He has recently purchased a new home in the village of East Aurora, which he shares with his fiancée Kasey and their chow-chow Bowser. You can occasionally catch him showing off his current motors down at the East Aurora Moose Lodge. He leaves his old go-kart hanging on the garage wall.
In 2012, Lucas earned his undergraduate’s degree from Buffalo State College with a B.A. in Communications with honors in Public Relations. Outside of his undergraduate studies, he spent years playing as a hooker for the Buffalo State Men’s Rugby Club. Lucas went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University Of Dayton School Of Law in 2017. He received the Dean’s Scholarship based on his academic performance and received certificates of merit in tort law and criminal law. During his law school summer, he was appointed as a law clerk to the Chief Federal Judge of the Western District of New York.
Throughout his life, Lucas has been involved in many activities and organizations that would prepare him for a career in law. In high school and in college, he was active within student government. In law school, he was elected as the Class President and became Executive Vice President of the Student Bar Association. Lucas was also a member of the Volunteer Student Law Project and served in the civil law clinic, providing pro bono services within the Dayton community.
Admitted to practice law in New York State, Lucas is a member of the Bar Association of Erie County and the New York State Bar Association.
“To earn some money while a student at Buffalo State, my fiancée and I joined a focus group panel as mock jurors at William Mattar. We were fascinated by the process and the detail that went into each and every case. The following semester we took some pre-law classes together and we were both hooked. This eventually led to us going to law school together. It was helpful while in law school that we wanted to focus our studies on personal injury. We are both honored to now be members of the William Mattar team. From a very young age, I always found myself fighting for the underdog. Now, as an attorney, my desire to help aligns perfectly with the core values of the firm. Our clients come to us because they find themselves in a traumatic situation. The legal process surrounding a motor vehicle accident is lengthy and complex. It is a pleasure to guide my clients through this arduous process using The Mattar Way. I can honestly say that Kasey and I look forward to coming to work each day.”
When Lucas is not advocating for clients, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, traveling and riding motorcycles. His life plan is to perform a “Mondo Enduro” by circumnavigating as much of the world as he is able on anything that has two wheels and a motor. He has certainly embraced the community spirit in Western New York as he adds, “Although there’s an increasing number of Buffalo Bills fans all over the world, there is no greater feeling than being surrounded by Bills fans here in Buffalo. Go Bills!”
