A Rochester Truck Accident earlier this week claimed the lives of two young motorists and leaving three others seriously injured. Reports indicate the crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on July 16, at the corner of North and Riga Mumford Roads, just outside of Wheatfield.
According to WIVB 4 News, the victims were returning home from volunteering at a camp for children with special needs when the Jeep they were riding in approached the intersection. Investigators believe the driver thought the crossing was a four-way stop and pulled into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. The truck’s driver did not have time to stop and collided with the Jeep.
The 20-year-old driver and a front seat passenger died at the scene, while the three other victims were thrown from the vehicle and rushed to local medical facilities for treatment. One victim remains in guarded condition, while the other two are listed as stable. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
Deputies say drugs and alcohol likely did not play a part in causing the crash.
