September 27, 2013 It’s been a deadly season for motorcyclists along the highways running through Western New York this year. The Motorcycle Accident Lawyers with the William Mattar Law Offices say local law enforcement agencies are reporting that 13 motorcyclists have died in the area as a result of crashes since this past May. This statistic is causing many riders to wonder what the common causes of these collisions may be. An article released by The Buffalo News explains that motorist errors and lack of rider experience may be to blame for many of the crashes. Reports indicate that two motorcyclists were killed as the result of motorists turning their vehicle into the path of motorcyclists without yielding the right-of-way. Another five accidents were the result of riders being unable to properly negotiate a turn, which is an area covered by most motorcycle safety courses. Experts tend to agree that participating in rider safety courses before hitting the road can equip riders with the knowledge and techniques needed to avoid accidents, as well as injury or death in the event of a crash. William Mattar’s team of Personal Injury Lawyers adds that wearing a helmet approved by the Department of Transportation will also help to protect riders from danger.
