More information regarding the cause of a fatal car accident has come to light during the dual manslaughter trial the two individuals charged are facing.

According to testimony given by a man riding along with the pair when the accident occurred, the two responsible parties had been consuming alcohol and illicit drugs at a friend’s house on the night of July 28. When one got behind the wheel and the other on a motorcycle to return home, they collided with a pair of cyclists at an intersection along Route 250.

An article from the Fairport-East Rochester Post explained the impact of the collision knocked the cyclist roughly 40 feet before she hit the asphalt and died a short time later. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist sustained injuries treated at a local hospital before he was placed under arrest.

Both drivers were charged with several crimes, including aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter, DWI, and driving without a license. While the pair is standing trial together, they have separate juries hearing their cases. If convicted they could face several years behind bars.

The Rochester Personal Injury Lawyers with William Mattar Law Offices are aware of how devastating the loss of a loved one can be. The firm hopes a decision in the case will bring closure for the family of the victim.
