No-Fault Claim Form NYS
To register a car in New York, you must carry auto insurance that includes no-fault coverage.
No-fault insurance covers your medical bills, reimburses lost earnings, and helps with other expenses if you’re injured in a traffic accident—even if you were at fault. This means that your own insurance compensates you for injuries sustained in your vehicle, whether as the driver or a passenger, so you don’t have to wait for or negotiate with other parties involved in the crash. It saves you from the back-and-forth over who’s responsible and who should pay.
There are a few limitations to keep in mind.
No-fault benefits won’t cover vehicle damage or compensate for pain and suffering. Plus, to receive these benefits, you need to complete and submit the New York Motor Vehicle No-Fault Insurance Law Application for Motor Vehicle No-Fault Benefits—a three-page form—within 30 days of the accident.
We strongly recommend that you have a personal injury attorney review your form before submission. There’s more to the no-fault insurance application than just filling it out.
