What is The Salvation Army?
We hear the name Salvation Army and automatically think of the place to donate clothes and furniture or you may think of the bell ringer volunteers during the holidays. You know the Salvation Army ‘helps people’, but what do they specifically do? The Salvation Army does their best to offer hope for a better way of life by meeting basic human needs. They feed families, provide clothing and shelter, and also provide many counseling and community programs such as emergency assistance, employment services, adult rehabilitation services and more. Those programs require many staff and volunteers committed to helping our neighbors find comfort as they get back on their feet.
Did You Know?
• Over 105,000 people were served last year in the Buffalo area alone
• Over 360,000 meals were served in Western New York alone
• The Buffalo, NY location has a 77 bed homeless family shelter
