February 19, 2014 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data shows motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of accidental death among children age 8 and younger. One way to prevent children from being injured in crashes is to ensure they are seated in child safety or booster seats. However, improperly installing safety seats may inhibit their ability to protect occupants from Serious Car Accident Injuries. The risk of a child safety seat not being properly installed is prominent. Research has shown as many as nine out of ten parents fail to properly install a child’s seat. To help combat this problem, several Western New York Child Seat Inspection events will take place across the region over the next several months. The next check will take place in Saratoga County on Feb. 27 from 4-6:30 p.m. at Clifton Park & Halfmoon Ambulance on Crossing Boulevard in Clifton Park, New York. During the event, New York State Police will check children’s seats to ensure they are not expired, have no outstanding recalls, and are properly installed. The next event will take place in Onondaga County on March 1. The Car Accident Lawyers with William Mattar Law Offices encourage all parents to attend one of the upcoming events to help ensure their children are safe in the car.
