Erie County Sheriff’s Office Holding Child Safety Seat Inspection Event This Weekend

October 9, 2013 The Buffalo Car Accident Lawyers with William Mattar Law Offices explain that motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of accidental deaths for children under the age of eight years old. One of the reasons this number is so high is because many parents fail to use or properly install child safety seats. In fact, studies have shown that as many as nine out of 10 parents fail to properly install child restraint devices in their vehicles. To educate parents on the proper methods and techniques to use when installing these devices, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office will be offering free inspections of car safety seats this coming weekend. The Buffalo News reports the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of the Eastern Hills Mall on Transit Road in Clarence, New York. During the inspections, officials will ensure each safety seat receiving an inspection has not been subject to recall. It will then be checked for proper installation and will also be examined to certify it is height and weight appropriate for the child who will use it. William Mattar Law Offices’ Personal Injury Lawyers recognize the importance of child safety seats meeting safety standards and encourage parents in the area to take part in this upcoming safety event.
